Following is a detailed list of all the 
documentation services Maritime Vessel Surveying, Inc. can provide a client.
 
Vessel Documentation
Vessel documentation is a one time process whereby official papers are issued by the U. S. Coast Guard.  These need to be renewed annually and the USCG send you notification of
when this renewal is due.  Once you pay the fee, the USCG will send you a decal for the current year.

The Certificate of Documentation provides conclusive evidence of nationality for international purposes and becomes eligible for First Preferred Ships Mortgage, an internationally recognized maritime lien and required by most banks
and lending institutions.

To qualify a vessel must measure at least 5 net tons and must be wholly owned by a citizen of the U.S. Vessels of five net tons or more used in Commercial fishing or Coastwise trade must be
documented.

Documented Recreational Vessels do not display their official numbers on the outside of the hull, but are identified by the name and hailing port.

States may require documented vessels to be registered (but
not numbered) and to display state decals showing that they have complied with state requirements.
 
Maritime Vessel Surveying, Inc. can accomplish the title search,
documentation and mortgaging of your vessel without you having to spend your time and aggravation. 
We will obtain all the necessary instruments of title, prepare the application and handle the documentation process with the United States Coast Guard.
 
The Fee for Documentation ranges from $300.00 and up and includes 
Federal application charges.
 
 
Change of Status
Complete "Change of Status" package that provides clients with
the assistance they need to change a vessel from a documented one back to a private status.
 
Claim of Lien
Complete "Claim of Lien" service that provides clients who wish
to file a "Notice of Claim To Lien" against a currently documented vessel.   Note: In order to record the claim of lien, at least one outstanding mortgage must already exist on the vessels abstract of title.
 
Documentation Removal
Complete "Documentation Removal" package that provides clients
with the assistance they need to properly remove a vessel from U.S.Coast Guard documentation.
 
Initial Documentation
Complete range of U.S. Coast Guard "Initial Documentation"
services for both pleasure and commercial vessels.
Lien Clearance
Complete "Lien Clearance" package that provides clients with
the assistance they need to obtain payoff quotations, arrange the payoff, and obtain all necessary lien holder releases.
 
Preferred Mortgage
Complete "Preferred Mortgage" package that is designed to provide all of the necessary services to record a preferred
mortgage on a  documented vessel. This package includes all of the following:
  • Coast Guard abstract of title for previously documented vessels.
  • Full preparation of the mortgage
  • Procurement of all necessary signatures
  • A follow up abstract to assure the recording is properly indexed.
Re-Documentation
Complete range of U.S. Coast Guard "Re-Documentation"services for both pleasure and commercial vessels.
 
Replace Lost Document
Complete "Replace Lost Document" package that provides clients
with the assistance they need to replace a lost document for their vessel.

Satisfaction of Mortgage
Complete "Satisfaction of Mortgage" package that includes
all the necessary services to prepare and file a satisfaction of mortgage with the U.S. Coast Guard.
 
Titling & Registration
Consultations
